The Price of Independence?

Every once and awhile the mainstream media does some reporting. An example of this phenomenon will occur on Sunday, Feb. 24, at 7 p.m on CBS's 60 Minutes. Seems like they have a pretty interesting story to tell about Karl Rove and a certain imprisoned former governor from Alabama.

Perhaps more interesting is the fact that a substantial amount of this story was uncovered by an independent reporter for rawstory.com. Her name is Larisa Alexandrovna. Not only did she do a lot of the footwork for different parts of the story about Rove, she was instrumental in pushing CBS to air the story, when the network started to get cold feet.

But by far, the most interesting part of this saga has to do with the warnings that she is getting from anonymous sources that she will be the target of a forthcoming hit piece in one of Alabama's major newspapers--exactly because of her independent reporting on Rove.

It seems that this administration knows no bounds when it comes to attempting to intimidate reporters who don't serve as personal lapdogs.
